Report on Conscientization Programme

CONSCIENTIZATION PROGRAMME REPORT
                    DISASTER MANAGEMENT

A disaster is a serious disruption, occurring over a relatively short time, of the functioning of a community or a society involving widespread human, material, economic or environmental loss and impacts. It is a sudden accident or a natural catastrophe that causes great damage or loss of life. Disaster management is a step towards a state by being alert with all possible arrangements. It is necessary that the government and people should remain alert to face any kind of disaster. A special department for disaster management should be set up. Funds should be set aside for providing relief and rehabilitation facilities. Advanced warning and forecasting systems should be placed in disaster prone areas. Public awareness about disaster preparedness should be created through various programmes. This conscientization programme aims to provide awareness for the students of St.Johns’ HS, Eravipuram on the need of disaster management.
OBJECTIVES
1.    To give awareness on the need of disaster management.
2.    To realize about the different types of disasters and its effects.
3.    To provide information about the disaster management cycle.

I conducted the programme at my class VIII C on 3/1/2019 at 12:00 pm. I explained about different types of disasters, its effects, measures to be taken and about the disaster management cycle. I showed slides with different pictures and some information on the topic. Throughout the session the students were actively listening to the talk and gave good response.

FEEDBACK
After the session a few students volunteered to give feedback on the session. They said the session was informative and said about the recent flood that happened in Kerala.

CONCLUSION
It is not possible to prevent the disasters from its happening, but we can limit its causes and effects through suitable preparation and become alert to face the situation. Proper rehabilitation and ample supplies and facilities can be provided. And the relevance of the conscientization programme lies here. The students listened and responded actively in the session as it was both interesting and informative.
