Report on the Community Living Camp

REPORT ON THE COMMUNITY LIVING CAMP

We, the first year B.Ed Degree students of Fathima Memorial Training College, Pallimukku; during our second semester conducted a community living camp named ‘Venalmazha’ for five days from 3-7 April 2019. We resided at our college with full co-operation and team work.

On the first day (3-4-2019) of our camp, we were asked to reach at our college at 2:30 pm. The Inauguration function started at 4:00 pm with Fathiha and Prayer. The Welcome speech was made by, Dr. Anitha. N, our Principal. The Presidential address was done by our College union Chairman, Ujwal Dev.M. Our chief guest, Dr. Arul R.B. Krishna IPS (Assistant Deputy Commissioner to the Honorable Governor of Kerala), gave the Inaugural speech. The Keynote Address was given by Dr. A. Younis Kunju Ex. MLA, Chairman of the Fathima Memorial Educational Trust (FMET). After that Suvarna from Mathematics optional class sung a song and it was really a musical break during the function. Then the Felicitation address was given by Sir. Noushad Y; Vice Chairman of FMET, Dr. Mini K.S; Vice Principal of the College and PTA President, Dr. K. Soman. At the end of the programme, Vote of thanks was presented by Ms. Akhila.A; General Secretary of the college union.

After the tea break, the ‘Paalukaachal’ function was at 5:30 pm in the presence of our Principal and teachers. There was a Food Fest and Painting Exhibition through which our cooking and painting experts among us showed their hidden talents. It was a real start for our camp. Then, a Musical Night show was arranged in our college lead by Mr. Noushad, Vice Chairman of FMET and Mr. Sreeraj Parackal, Radio Jockey of Community Radio Benziger and Asst. Professor Of Bishop Jerome Institute. The show was really mesmerizing and we enjoyed a lot. The singers among us got an opportunity to show their talent. After dinner, we went to bed and thus ended our first day camp programmes.

On the second day (4-04-2019), the wake up bell rung at 5:00 am. We got ready and Pramod Sir, our PT Sir made us do some exercise. After refreshment we had breakfast. We were divided into three houses; Diamond, Sapphire and Ruby. All houses were given duties for doing kitchen works, cleaning and other arrangements. Even if works were allotted separately, we all did things together like a family. At 9:00 am, we gathered for the assembly and did a reflection on the first day camp. One student from each house presented events happened on the first day like news bulletin in a hilarious manner. From 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, a class on personality development was conducted by the Clinical Psychologist Dr. Justin G. Padamadan. After the lunch break, some selected students made a visit to Snehatheeram orphanage, Chathanoor and a poor family. The second day ended with a ‘Nadanpaattu’ programme and then dinner.

On the third day (5-04-2019), we went for a one day tour to Athirappally and Vazhachal. We really enjoyed the whole day despite the hot weather.

On the fourth day (6-04-2019), there was a counseling class by Dr.Mohan, a Consultant Psychologist. The class was informative and thought provoking. After the lunch break, the six optional students performed songs, skit, drama, flash mob and other cultural programmes as a part of the Art Education in our curriculum. Then there was a campfire after the tea break. It was a real ‘dhamaka’. All were very active and on dance mode. After that we had dinner and thus ended our fourth day camp.

On the last day of our camp (7-04-2019), after all the usual chores, we gathered for the assembly and Valedictory session. It was a recalling moment on the past four days. We all had unforgettable and happy moments because of this camp. A few students and our Principal and teachers said their experience on the camp. We were sad too, because the camp was coming to an end and we wished it had continued for a few more days. The Valedictory Programme started at 10:30 am with Fathiha and Prayer. The welcome speech was given by our Principal. The Presidential address was presented by Ujwal Dev and Keynote address by Dr. A. Younis Kunju. After that Sri. Noushad gave the Felicitation Address and Vote of thanks by Ms. Gifti. X; Vice Chairman of College union. Then the camp officially ended with the National Anthem and we all said farewell and went home.
