WEEKLY REFLECTION

( Jan 20, 2020 - Jan 22, 2020)

The first three days of this week brought our teaching practice to an end. I completed all my lesson plans and on 20/01/2020, I conducted a class based on my innovative lesson plan. The idea was to convert the poem, 'My Grandmother's House' to a conversation. The class was effective and the students enjoyed the conversation practice.

During the last two days, we were engaged doing our practical works. I prepared for my project work and also evaluated the answer sheets of achievement test.

The teaching practice at St. Johns' HS, Eravipuram was really a good experience. We learnt to manage the classroom and arrange programmes and classes. The students co-operated well and the teachers and staffs were very supportive.

WEEKLY REFLECTION

( Dec 30, 2019 - Jan 4, 2020)

I completed  the sixth week of teaching practice. On 31/12/2019 I conducted a Conscientization programme on Disaster Management in the class as a part of the B.Ed curriculum. Slides showing pictures and information on the topic were shown. The students listened carefully and gave good response.
On 3/01/2020, I conducted the pre-test for my project work in my class VIII C. Questions were given to analyse the errors they make in subject verb agreement in sentences. Using the results I have to prepare strategies for the further teaching process in order to rectify those errors.
I started taking the story, The Merchant of Venice and completed five lesson plans this week. The story tells the world that the divine quality of mercy is always better than justice. This week I got the opportunity to observe my friends' teaching practice. They also came to my class for observation.

Report on Conscientization Programme

CONSCIENTIZATION PROGRAMME REPORT
                    DISASTER MANAGEMENT

A disaster is a serious disruption, occurring over a relatively short time, of the functioning of a community or a society involving widespread human, material, economic or environmental loss and impacts. It is a sudden accident or a natural catastrophe that causes great damage or loss of life. Disaster management is a step towards a state by being alert with all possible arrangements. It is necessary that the government and people should remain alert to face any kind of disaster. A special department for disaster management should be set up. Funds should be set aside for providing relief and rehabilitation facilities. Advanced warning and forecasting systems should be placed in disaster prone areas. Public awareness about disaster preparedness should be created through various programmes. This conscientization programme aims to provide awareness for the students of St.Johns’ HS, Eravipuram on the need of disaster management.
OBJECTIVES
1.    To give awareness on the need of disaster management.
2.    To realize about the different types of disasters and its effects.
3.    To provide information about the disaster management cycle.

REPORT
As a part of the B.Ed curriculum we the teacher trainees of St. Johns’ HS, Eravipuram, decided to conduct a conscientization programme on Disaster Management. The twelve teacher trainees Sreelekshmi.S, Akhila.A, Jitha.S, Sreelaksmi.S, Gifty.X, Thasni.Z, Suhaima.S, Jeethu.J, Neethu.A, Soumya.S, Remya.R and Tessy.T decided to talk on different topics based on the issue. We used slides, pictures, chart and videos to carry out our sessions.

A Notice about the conscientization programme was prepared and exhibited on the school board for inviting the teachers and students of the School.

I conducted the programme at my class VIII C on 3/1/2019 at 12:00 pm. I explained about different types of disasters, its effects, measures to be taken and about the disaster management cycle. I showed slides with different pictures and some information on the topic. Throughout the session the students were actively listening to the talk and gave good response.

FEEDBACK
After the session a few students volunteered to give feedback on the session. They said the session was informative and said about the recent flood that happened in Kerala.

CONCLUSION
It is not possible to prevent the disasters from its happening, but we can limit its causes and effects through suitable preparation and become alert to face the situation. Proper rehabilitation and ample supplies and facilities can be provided. And the relevance of the conscientization programme lies here. The students listened and responded actively in the session as it was both interesting and informative.

Creative Writing

                                          Deep in the Sea

                                                       Deep in the sea

                                                       where you can't see

                                                       There lies a shell

                                                       and its like a bell!

                                                       Touch of the waves

                                                        makes it tingle

                                                       Inside the shell

                                                       There lies a pearl single!
